Tell us a little about yourself?
I started off making beats, everytime i would make a banger i would freestyle to it. Slowly started freestyling more and more, my bars got better and i was able to rap non stop. In the past couple years i have focused more on rapping and less on making beats. Ive released 18 songs in the last year, 17 were produced, mixed and mastered by Darcy Voutt. The other song was a collab with a producer out in poland Padre Toxico, which just passed 10K streams on spotify.
How did you come up with your artist name?
Back in grade 9 i was partying with my bro and his friends, i went pretty hard that night and Petey Pablo- Raise up came on the radio. I jumped outta my seat and started spinning my undershirt around my head like a helicopter! (as the hook says to do) and the rest is history! All my bros friend started calling me Petey.
How long have you been in the music industry?
Ive been making beats for about 10 years and taking rapping seriously for the last 2 years.
How did you get started in the music business in the first place?
I love music and wanted to start making my own so i started making beats, i sold a few to some artists in the UK and USA. it was such an amazing feeling to sell a beat so i kept going and now we’re here.
How would you describe your latest single?
I would say its the most lyrical freestyle i have spit. The hook came because of the title of the beat the producer sent, Eternity. I feel like i have been making music for an eternity so i think its my time to blow and showed them how i do in the verses.
When can fans expect the visuals for the single?
I wish i could say real soon! I just had my first child a month ago so i’m trying to spend as much time with him as possible but i do plan on making visuals for all the music dropped in the last year and i only plan on doing that for all the hardcore fans as a thank you.
Who are your inspirations in the music industry?
Making classic music! I pride myself on being different, i dont do what everyone does but i strive to make that classic music all the time. I want to make songs that i listen back to in 5 years and go damn i snapped on this.
How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?
I dont write. Every track has been a freestyle, i struggle writing bars. They dont have the same energy as my freestyles do. The process is simple, i get Darcy to send me a beat i put my headphones on and start spitting. No ideas in my mind just literally step up to the mic and go. I record a ruff version and send it back to get some feedback if there is anything that needs to be changed i just spit a new freestyle and hope its better than the last one lol.
What is the concept behind your forthcoming project if working on one?
Darcy and i have been releasing a new song every 2 weeks for the past 7 months. We released an EP in June 2020 but as far as a new project that wont be anytime soon, we will be continuing to release a new song every 2 weeks.
Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?
******* covid lol I wish!
What did you buy with your first check off music?
I put it right back into my music and invested in some promotions.
What are must haves when your in the studio working?
Tea and water thanks to Darcy and Greenery are a MUST!!
What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
Just be yourself! There are not 2 Petey’s in this world, i pride myself on being real and organic. Also, dont pay for streams lol i did this back in the day andsaw no follower growth, i started my new page all organic and i have almost 10x the followers.
Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?
Yes!! I’m working on a collab with Donte Carter and Clubber Laing.
What artist have you had the pleasure of working with and what was it like?
I’ve worked with Bishop Brigante and man the guys just got bars for days! We agreed on a beat to use and then when it came to recording i played a few more beats for him and he liked another one more. So he hopped into the booth and spit a crazy 16. The Man Darcy Voutt is my go to collaborator lol he always give me the craziest beats and mixes and masters my vocals better than some pro’s, its always a pleasure working with him.
Name an artist(s) that you would love to work with?
In the future i’m trying to work with Spitty, Whiteboy Scummy and G-Body. I want to make one of those old school remix tracks thats like 15 mins long with a whole bunch of toronto artists but shh they dont know yet lol.
Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?
I think its a combination of both, because i dont write my bars my flow is constantly changing throughout the track and that constantly changing flow is matched by Darcy Voutt on the production and M&M side. We have something very unique and different from most artists and producers out there.
What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)
I need to learn how to write proper bars. Its great tofreestyle everything because theres no prep work but i feel like if some verses were structured better the song wouldve been better.

It would have to be Eminem- The Way I Am i cantstill bump it today and spit it bar for bar lol

Darcy Voutt the man is a legend. From the beats to the mixing and mastering its always amazing with this guy.
How do you feel about the current state of music?
I feel like there are way too many artists making the exact same kinda music. I feel like there is no originality in the game today.
Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?
I would definitely love to get on the stage at any big award show but i would say a Juno would be more than enough for me. Gotta represent where i’m from, CANADA!!

Just to keep making music and grow my fan base. I would love to make multi-millions off music but at the end of the day i just have so much fun making music i’ll continue to make it if i blow up or not.
Who would you say your music relates to the most?
People that love new music, my music is different and fresh. Its very hard to find someone similar.
What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)
I dont write! Other artists will sit on a track for months, tweaking bars, writing new verses. I dont have that problem because i dont write. We were able to record over 20+ tracks in 3 studio sessions (3-4 hour sessions) in one 3 hour session we actually recorded 9 tracks! I dont think too many artists are recording like that now a days.
When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
Play with my son lol not always relaxing but it always puts a smile on my face.
If you could work with any producer who would it be?
