Shimmer I just loved. Johnson is my last name. So we just went with Shimmer Johnson.

How long have you been in the music industry?

I started writing songs at the age of 21. I have always been part of the music industry even as a kid / teen. I used to perform anywhere and everywhere before I started writing my own songs.

How did you get started in the music business in the first place?

Music has been the only thing I have ever truly wanted to do. I used to sing with my family at 3 years old. As a teen I performed in a country band. I also was a DJ for karaoke throughout high school. When I turned 18 I performed with bands, girl groups and as a solo singer. At 21 I met my co-writer/husband Corey Johnson. We started writing songs and I have been hooked ever since.

How would you describe your latest single?

Priceless is the key track to my entire Inner Me album. It talks about low self esteem and discovering your own self worth. Its a great song with people with self confidence issues. I know it makes me feel better every time I listen to it.

When can fans expect the visuals for the single?

Lyric Video will be made in the first 30 days of the release. I am also shooting the Official music video for Priceless in March 2021.

Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

The people that truly inspired me in my music journey would be Whitney Houston, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Sia and Kelly Clarkson. Since I have been networking in LA the last 3 years I have met some amazing songwriters that inspire me on a daily basis. Michael Jay, Jud Friedman, Steven McClintock and Deb James have really had my back with my music the last few years. I am truly grateful for all my new friends. I have learned so much.

How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?

I write music very different than most. Usually I start with the music. Either myself or my co-writer Corey will sit down at the piano or guitar and start playing something. Sometimes a melody will just instantly pop into my head and then we just create a song on what I hear in my head. So its music , then melody and then lyrics. I like to take time on my lyrics so they are always written after the fact. I also don’t go into a writing project thinking of what I am going to write about. I let the music tell me what I am writing about. I go on the feels I feel.

What is the concept behind your forthcoming project if working on one?

The concept of my entire album is the emotions people experience inside due to relationships and experiences through out life.

Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?

Soon as the world is open back up I plan on touring my album yes.

What did you buy with your first check of music?

I honestly don’t remember … ha ha ha …I think I just spent more money on promotion lol…

My must haves are my co-writer Corey Johnson. He is simply amazing. He can play all the instruments. He has clever lyric ideas. He is an amazing producer and he also mixes and masters all of our music. Without him I think I would be lost.

What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

You should be networking every day with people that do the music business for a living I started networking in LA and honestly it was the best thing I could of did for my career. I have met some amazing friends and have written some amazing music all because I decided to network.
