Interview With Hip Hop Artist ‘Mighty Savage’

Tell us a little about yourself?

The power music holds over people is unfathomable but MightySavage can get an idea. The NYC-based artist started his life off in Virginia where he grew an appreciation for hip-hop not only as a genre but as a culture. From Biggie to Tupac and Jay Z to Nas, he studied the greatest lyricists of the past and present to develop the sound of the future.

A style rooted deeply in melodic structures and trap-flavoured production, MightySavage invigorates the rap scene with a mainstream-esque sound that is evolved in its layers and style.

After some time he became a debut underground emcee inside the local area, delivering a string of singles in 2019 with expanding levels of progress. From the beginning is building an unwavering fan base around NYC local area. His streaming numbers before long developed, storing up hundreds of thousands of plays across different stages prior to delivering his presentation project, Levels of Life Vol. 1, in 2020.  

How did you come up with your artist name?

The artist name ‘MightySavage’ came from a great portion of my life. I was very reckless and savage in my younger years. My nickname was ‘Monty’, I turned it into ‘Mighty’ then I kept savage. My brothers and homies always stay dangerous savage. I took that energy and ‘MightySavage’ was born and become a local name in my hometown.

How long have you been in the music industry?

I’ve been in the music industry for 3 years and prior to that growing up with my friends I would participate in freestyling and cyphers

How did you get started in the music business in the first place?

I started taking music seriously in 2019 after the death of my ex-wife in a tragic car accident.

How would you describe your latest single?

I was always taught be the best at anything you set your mind to achieving and that is what my latest single describes.

Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

Jay Z inspires me ever since I was young I was always intrigued by his business and New York state of mind.

What are must haves when you’re in the studio working?

When I’m in the studio I must have water, weed and candy.

What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

The best advice I received in this business is ‘Don’t stop, the grind never stops’.

Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?

I would like to collaborate with other artists in the future.

What artist have you had the pleasure of working with and what was it like?

I have not worked with any other artists up to and at the time of this interview.

Name an artist(s) that you would love to work with?

Some artists I would love to collaborate with is ‘Money Man’ and ‘Young Ma’.

Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?

My music is a little bit of everything, my beat choice is heavy 808’s and my lyrics match the melody and tone.

What area do you need to improve on in regard to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc.)

I definitely need to get on a stage. I’ve never been on a stage to perform.

What’s your all-time favourite song?

My all-time favourite song is ‘Doomed’ by NBA Youngboy

What was the last album you listened to?

The last album I listened to was ‘Until I Return’ by NBA Youngboy

In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

My opinion is don’t fall off competition is everywhere. There are so many top artists coming out everyday and they have to keep that energy and show they are a great artist.

How do you feel about the current state of music?

The current state of music I feel that there is definitely more entertainment than reality.

Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?

I do dream I will be at the Grammys and also get a million streams Spotify award one day.

What is your main goal as far as music?

‘MightySavage’ is bringing back the old songs, they embrace the classics every year both aesthetically and sonically. My future in music is to bring nostalgic music.

Who would you say your music relates to the most?

People who are experiencing pain in there life.

What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)

I come from a state where many don’t make this turn in life and you are blessed if you make it past the age of 25.

When you’re not in the studio, what do you like to do for fun and relaxation?

When I’m not in the studio I usually watch ‘Power’ or read books. I also do a lot of meditation.

If you could work with any producer who would it be?

If I could work with any producer I would want to work with Tay Kieth.

What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

My first project ran up 400,000 Streams.

What is your dream venue to perform at?

Madison Square Garden.

What’s the name of the last book you read and by whom?

’48 Laws Of Power’ by Robert Greene.

What’s your favourite sports team and why?

My favourite sports team will forever be ‘LA Lakers’

Who’s your favourite actor or actress and their best movie?

Michael Rainey JR who plays Tariq in ‘Power’.

Name someone famous who inspires you and why?

Jay Z Inspires me ever since a young age by his business.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Levels of Life Vol. 1, in 2020. A critical and commercial success, the tape is merely a launching point for ‘MightySavage’ to take his name to the next level!
