Tell us a little about yourself?
We are Matteo Salvatori and Emiliano Santoro, two musicians, songwriters and content creators from Italy. We met in elementary school 18 years ago and we have always shared the passion for music. We put together our first band when we were 15 years old and then we kept playing together through the years even after moving to the United States to study music in college. Last year, while we were living in the USA we started this project, Lionfield.
How did you come up with your artist name?
‘Lionfield’ is the english translation of the name of our hometown in Italy which is called ‘Campoleonea’. It is a small town right outside of Rome.
How long have you been in the music industry?
We started working as professional musicians at the age of 18 when we were hired to play in live concerts and in studio recordings as session musicians. Fun fact we started singing less than a year ago but we both graduated in college taking a degree in music majoring in drums (Matteo) and guitar (Emiliano) performance.
How did you get started in the music business in the first place?
We put together our band “Lionfield” in March 2020 and we released our first original song on January 1st 2021.
How would you describe your latest single?
“Your Sky”, (our next single that will be released on April 2nd 2021,) talks about a long distance relationship. It’s hard to be far from the person you love, especially in these times. The track is a blend of Italian soft music with modern pop.
When can fans expect the visuals for the single?
We already revealed the cover art for the new single, but we will post sneak peeks of the song on Instagram and our other socials during the weeks before the release date
Who are your inspirations in the music industry?
We have different music inspirations. From the great rock bands of the past such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, to contemporary artists such as LANY, Lauv, The 1975, John Mayer, Coldplay, etc…
How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?
We have a different approach for each song. All the elements have to coexist together to convey the same emotions. In other words, the music has to go where the lyrics are and the other way around.
What is the concept behind your forthcoming project if working on one?
Beside the release of our upcoming single, we are working on more original music that we plan to release through the rest of the year.
Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?
Since touring is not an option at the moment, we will promote our upcoming single in our daily lives on TikTok. We will have a special live dedicated to the song on Instagram.
What did you buy with your first check off music?
Everything we earn and we have earned is directly reinvested in this project.
What are must haves when your in the studio working?
When we are in the studio we must have ‘CAFFE’, a tuner, and an Italian cook book.
What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
Be yourself and have fun.
Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?
Sure, we would love to collaborate with other artists. Obviously, it’s a must NOT to like pineapple pizza if you want to work with us.
What artist have you had the pleasure of working with and what was it like?
Since we started releasing original music just a few months ago we still haven’t had a chance to work with any other artists, but we look forward to it.

We would love to collaborate with artists like Lauv, LANY, Anson Seabra, Ermal Meta, Ultimo, Fabrizio Moro and many more.
Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?
We don’t know the answer to this question because everyone perceives music differently, but we think our listeners enjoy the lyrical flow and content of our songs.
What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc..)
Since we put together this project we are constantly improving and maturing as artists. This is a never ending journey where we keep growing and get better everyday. Every week we record and produce our own covers that we post on TikTok and Instagram alongside writing original music. This is for sure something that is improving our skills.

What was the last album you listened to?
To be honest we mostly create our own Spotify playlists with our favorite songs from different artists.
Your favourite artist of all time and why?
Emiliano: Lucio Dalla because of his unbelievable sense of melodic taste and lyric content.
Matteo: Coldplay have always been one of my favorite artists because of their vision, songwriting and their ability to convey emotions with their music.
Whose your favourite five artist right now?
Conan Gray, The 1975, Lauv, Billie Eilish, LANY.
How do you feel about the current state of music?
The music industry is evolving and especially with the pandemic going on it is obvious that its future is on the internet, specifically on the streaming. We think that in the near future streaming concerts will become exponentially more popular.
Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?
We would love to play at the Eurovision.
What is your main goal as far as music?
Our main goal is to share love bringing people together and express ourselves through our art.
Who would you say your music relates to the most?
Our music is a reflection of ourselves so we hope it resonates with people who believe in dreams, love and pasta al dente.
What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)
In our music we mix English and Italian creating a blend between the two languages. Also another thing that differentiate us from other music artists is the fact that we are content creators and streamers. We post daily videos on Instagram and TikTok and we also live stream everyday on our TikTok account with almost one million followers.
When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
Because we are also content creators there is actually no time left for relaxation or other activities. We are constantly working on the music and entertainment side of this project that keeps us busy all day long
If you could work with any producer who would it be?
We would love to work with Mike Crossey, and Daniel Nigro.
What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?
Some of the highlights since we started this project last year are our Online Concert that sold out in a few days with 400 participants. Also our debut single reached almost 20k streams only on Spotify! But the biggest achievement so far is our TikTok account with almost one million followers and viral videos with several million views each as well.
What is your dream venue to perform at?
One day we would love to play inside the Colosseum.
What’s the name of the last book you read and by whom?
Harry Potter and Hunger Games.
What’s your favourite sports team and why?
We don’t follow sports. Very unusual for Italians.

Name someone famous who inspires you and why?
John Mayer for his songwriting talent and guitar skills.
What can we expect from you in the future?
We are working on new original music. It would be amazing to release an EP by the end of this year and maybe an album in 2022.
