
Tell us a little about yourself?
I am a singer/songwriter and a London Black Cabbie. I live in Essex
How did you come up with your artist name?
It’s my real name. I did try to think of an artist name but in the end stuck with my one.
How long have you been in the music industry?
I’ve worked in bands for over 20 years but this is the first time I’ve recorded my own music.
How did you get started in the music business in the first place?
My Dad was a musician and I used to watch him in his band. When he moved abroad I took his place in the band.
How would you describe your latest single?
It’s a song about not letting people stop you from doing what you want in life and always believing in your self.
When can fans expect the visuals for the single?
There is no video for this one. You can see my video for ‘This Is Me’ on YouTube or via my website here.
Who are your inspirations in the music industry?
I have many inspirations but a few are, The Beatles, Oasis, The Verve, Paul Wellar, Phil Collins, Pink Floyd, Happy Monday’s, The Stone Roses but there are various others.
How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?
I would normally do guitar before lyrics. I’ll find a melody I like and base the lyrics around that. It’s not really something I consciously do but it just seems to happen that way.
What is the concept behind your forthcoming project if working on one?
I am currently writing my next album. There isn’t a concept as such – I write about various things and go with the flow.
Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?
I would love to tour and now the world is opening up, who knows.
What did you buy with your first check off music?
Haven’t had one yet but I’ll let you know.
What are must haves when your in the studio working?
Guitar, pen, paper and plenty of water.
What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
To never give up!
Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?
Yes, I hope so.
What artist have you had the pleasure of working with and what was it like?
Francis Rossi (Status Quo) produced and co-wrote 3 of the tracks on the album. It was an amazing experience working with him. I learnt so much that I will take into the second album.
Name an artist(s) that you would love to work with?
Paul Weller would be amazing.
Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?
Lyrical flow and content I believe. Also the singalong choruses.
What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc…)
I Believe you can always improve and should never stop learning.
What’s your all-time favourite song?
Champagne Supernova. I love that one.
What was the last album you listened to?
Foo-Fighters. They are great.
Your favourite artist of all time and why?
Probably, Paul Weller again as I love the way he writes.
Whose your favourite five artists right now?
Foo-Fighters, Paul Weller, Liam Gallagher, Ed Sheeran & Rag n bone Man.
In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?
This is difficult to answer as I am unsure what my genre is as my music is quite different to everything about.
Who have been some of your favourite artists that you’ve been able to work with?
Francis Rossi and he’s the only one to date.
How do you feel about the current state of music?
It’s a real shame that you can’t really sell as many physical records anymore. It’s all downloads now.
Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?
I’d love to play at the Ivor Novello awards.
What is your main goal as far as music?
To keep being able to write and get my songs heard on mainstream radio.
Who would you say your music relates to the most?
It’s a mixed bag to be honest.
What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)
I think that’s a question for my supporters to answer. I am just an artist trying to entertain and inspire people.
When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
Gym, golf and spending time with my family.
If you could work with any producer who would it be?
Couldn’t pick one there are so many.
What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?
Having the opportunity to record and write with Francis.
What is your dream venue to perform at?
Glastonbury would be a a dream.
What’s the name of the last book you read and by whom?
Can’t actually remember it was so long ago.
What’s your favourite sports team and why?
West Ham as my family are all from East London and I’ve supported them all my life.
Whose your favourite actor or actress and their best movie?
I don’t really watch films as I’m too busy writing.
Name someone famous who inspires you and why?
Dave Grohl as I love his song writing.
What can we expect from you in the future?
Another album and some live shows.
