Interview With R&B/Pop Singer ‘Jaida Aneese’

Tell us a little about yourself?

I grew up in Northeast Ohio. After high school, I started posting on TikTok for fun, and
wound up getting 14M views. My real passion was music, though. I never seriously
considered pursuing it, and then one day I was like “Hey, maybe you can really do
something with this talent.” That’s when I really got serious and started working and
recording with some of my uncles in their studios. They all told me to keep working and
never give up. So about two years ago I decided to take a chance and jump into this
music thing.

How did you come up with your artist name?

My artist name is my real name. I’ve always loved my middle name because I feel like it
clicks. It was never said enough so I brought more light to it by making it my stage
name.

How long have you been in the music industry?

I’ve been in the industry for about 2 years.

How did you get started in the music business in the first place?

Music has always been a part of me, but I got serious about a life in the music industry
around 2 years ago. I was discovered by Billboard jazz recording artist Jimmy B, who
then introduced me to producer Eddie Ferguson and Jaytel Bethaford.

How would you describe your latest single?

“Liquid” has an infectious beat and lyrics depicting a fun, carefree love affair that gives
you butterflies, “Liquid” is about being around that one person who makes you melt.
This song just makes you want to vibe with your boo.

When can fans expect the visuals for the single?

NOW!! Turn on my notifications to stay up to date on what’s to come in the future.

Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

My top two inspirations in the industry are Rihanna & H.E.R.

How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?

When it comes to getting into a creative mindset, I don’t have a ritual that I follow step
by step. I really just take what I’m feeling and multiply it by 100. Sometimes, I take what
someone else is feeling and try to put myself in their shoes. Once I do that, the emotion
just takes over from there.

What is the concept behind your forthcoming project if working on one?

The concept behind my forthcoming project is addiction of all types, mental health
disorders, eating disorders, drugs, even love. Anything that a person could feel or
experience a “relapse” in.

Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?

With COVID, currently have no touring dates planned but hopefully that changes.

What did you buy with your first check off music?

Anything I make from music I flip right back into music, investing in yourself is important.

What are must haves when your in the studio working?

My studio must have blueberry hotel muffins & some water.

What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

“Prepare for no’s” would probably be one of the best pieces of advice I actually followed
in this business. The truth is nobody really wants you until someone else or everyone
else does. With that comes self-love and confidence you have to be so sure of yourself
that when someone with power shoots you down you keep moving. Also, the
importance of a strong encouraging team that believes in you, which I’ve found.

Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?

Of course! Stay tuned!

What artist have you had the pleasure of working with and  what was it like?

I have not done any collaborations on my songs that I can talk about, yet but I have a
few in mind for the future.

Name an artist(s) that you would love to work with?

I would love to work with Jessie Reyez. I love her writing style.

Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?

I feel like my music is enjoyable for both the lyrical flow and the beats working together
because you can’t really have one without the other. I do feel like my lyrics are so
relatable, that a lot of people would say my lyrical flow.

What area do you need to improve on in regards to your  career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc…)

If I had to pick it, I would say my stage presence because I’m still not 100% comfortable
on the stage. I don’t know that anyone ever really is, honestly.

What’s your all-time favourite song?

My all-time favourite song is a tough one to answer but “Karma” by Ann Marie always
gets me hype.

What was the last album you listened to?

The last album I listened to was FLOAT by K CAMP.

Your favourite artist of all time and why?

There are so many amazing artists out there it’s hard to just pick one.

Whose your favourite five artists right now?

In mTop 5 favorite artist right now would be: Ann Marie, Billie Eilish, Tink, H.E.R & Mulatto.

In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

In my opinion, Ariana Grande is the most successful pop artist in today’s genre because
I see and hear her pop up everywhere. H.E.R would be the most successful female
R&B artist because of all of her musical talents and amazing records.

Who have been some of your favourite artists that you’ve been able to work with?

I’m still waiting to work with some of the greats. I have some in mind for future projects,
so ask me again next year.

How do you feel about the current state of music?

I feel like the current state of music has changed so much. It has its pros and cons in
each genre. Overall, I enjoy today’s music, but I also love my oldies.

Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?

It would be a dream to attend the Grammys award show.

What is your main goal as far as music?

My main goal as far as music would be to keep growing and touching people with my
music.

Who would you say your music relates to the most?

I think anyone who’s ever been in love, of any age group, would love this single. It’s
something everyone can relate to. I just feel like it’s a light, happy, love song that stays
with you, and you’ll be singing it all day.

What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)

I try to be different by not sexualizing myself. Of course, we all know there are times
where we want to show some skin and that’s totally fine. As long as I do it for me and
that’s how I feel in that moment, then nothing else matters.

When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?

When I’m not in the studio I enjoy kicking back and relaxing by myself and watching a
show for fun. If I’m feeling like doing more, a night out with family and friends is a mood
too.

If you could work with any producer who would it be?

If I could work with any producer, I would love to work with Timbaland.

What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

Going viral overnight.

What is your dream venue to perform at?

My dream venue would be Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado because it
looks like a pretty dope place to perform at.

What’s the name of the last book you read and by whom?

The last book I read was Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyers.

What’s your favourite sports team and why?

I don’t really have a favourite sports team but I’m down to hoop (play basketball) any day.

Whose your favourite actor or actress and their best movie?

One of my favourite actors would have to be Julia Stiles I would say her best movie is
either 10 Things I Hate About You or Save the Last Dance. Both I watched growing up
as a kid and I always recited her poem she did in “class” every time that part came on.

Name someone famous who inspires you and why?

Rihanna is my greatest influence because she’s a legit queen. Her work ethic, her
confidence, the way she carries herself and stays humble, but savage at the same time.
Not to mention she’s the world’s wealthiest female musician and second richest woman
in entertainment, behind Oprah Winfrey. Being a young black female artist, and seeing
her grow this way is insane. I just have mad respect for her and admire her to the
fullest.

What can we expect from you in the future?

In the future you can expect an EP & album!
