
Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m Howard Jones known as king of bass aka Dagavaq from Greeneville Tennessee of the USA.
How did you come up with your artist name?
King of bass I gotten it from bass patrol of there song king of bass.
How long have you been in the music industry?
Well I started writing at elementary school in 1997 when I wanted to learn music and I would hear the song in my head and it was like I was learning sound design so I wrote it on paper.
How did you get started in the music business in the first place?
When I met this gentleman name David Seva Louis ball of soundcurrent mastering he would talk to me about music and sound engineering And mixing and he made my first two song ep album they where two songs velvet moon and let the Rhythm send you.
How would you describe your latest single?
Well it took me along time to make n mix afraid of this generation so I would go from daw software of EJay hip hop 5/6 to dance 5/6 then strictly a different DAW of FL studio and remixlive for my beats and loopmasters or ghosthack for my bass dubstep.
When can fans expect the visuals for the single?
Power and emotion , strength and expression.
Who are your inspirations in the music industry?
It was for along time the Killers ,Bass Patrol, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Daft Punk and Tiesto now I’m more shifting to smash into pieces band they are totally awesome.
How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?
I dream about it in my entire sleep to be honest ,I like sitting and walking out side hearing nothing but the quite sounds of mother nature and the voice of God in my heart because all of that including mother nature you can hearing all types of music just gotta listen and also I listen to my playlist of EDM artist like deadmau5 ,Tiesto ,some Skrillex as well.
What is the concept behind your forthcoming project if working on one?
I love experimenting music of all genre’s and right now I been working on jazz meets dubstep meets EDM meets ambient I wanna add some soul into my music, but my upcoming albums are afraid of this generation, faith, bass UniGalaxy and Bassmas all projects of different genres faith is a trap dubstep gospel album I’m doing with a friend KamalSupreme and it’s more of a gospel trapstep EP album in October 23, Afraid Of This Generation is just a four song album for October 13 more of a orchestral dubstep track , Bassmas is for Christmas dubstep and EDM.
Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?
Not right now but I’m thinking about performing someday.
What did you buy with your first check off music?
To help my family and parents with food and stuff.
What are must haves when your in the studio working?
I have to talk with my gf Vilma to help me relax ,have my dog Bayley around to make me laugh, a lot of water and make sure I have eaten first a good warm meal and listening to my playlist to help me motivate myself.
What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
Swing to the fences ,and never give up your dreams by the late Hank Aaron himself.
Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?
Kamal Supreme, Steph Wendler, D3X and maybe few others.
What artist have you had the pleasure of working with and what was it like?
I like working with Kamal Supreme he’s very kind and respectful hardworking gentleman and God fearing also I liked working with Romy Harmony she worked on a song with me called Cage and she was very nice too.
Name an artist(s) that you would love to work with?
I would love to work with (I know this is far fetched but with Kanye west I heard he was the greatest music artist ever and I love working on the power of music ever and I always wanted to see what it be like putting two together and I would love to work with smash into pieces band I love there music too and Tiesto n deadmau5 as well.
Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?
Overall mostly my music and flow in sounds.
What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc…)
Mixing , engineering and production I would like to overcome my weakness of those.
What’s your all-time favourite song?
Strobe by deadmau5 I can listen to his song for hours and be chilling forever.
What was the last album you listened to?
Smash into pieces newest album.
Your favourite artist of all time and why?
Deadmau5 because he knows what he’s doing and he doesn’t look like someone would get there Fortune and retire, he’s like me he will work forever if he wants too and so am I.
Whose your favourite five artists right now?
Deadmau5, Tiesto, smash into pieces, myself sorry but I love my work, Daft Punk and I’ll add one more Kanye west.
In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?
Deadmau5 because everyone knows him ,he’s not fake he doesn’t mess or joke around with his work and he’s right on the money about music.
Who have been some of your favourite artists that you’ve been able to work with?
I will have to get back to that one later lol I don’t like to choose favourites with people I work with I respect them all differently.
How do you feel about the current state of music?
It’s very competitive but needs to be more about family and less who’s better then who and also less people hogging the spotlight sometimes.
Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?
The Grammys and I would love to win as much influenced artist of all generation because I wanna be a great influence for people who has autism like me I know it seems far fetched again I wanna be known in music business as a leader of positivity note.
What is your main goal as far as music?
To improve my sound I always want to improve and do better.
Who would you say your music relates to the most?
The entire music industry I love hip hop, dubstep , gospel, trap, jazz, EDM, everything I even made industrial noise before.
What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)
I love telling a story in my albums and songs I wanna open a new generation of music for people like me for mental health and autism folks who wants to see that anything is possible with hard praying, consistency, hard work and very passionate n great support from support from the EDM community like Myrtle Beach EDM scene and support from my faith in Jesus all them and that helps me keep going and my lovely family as well and friends and fans.
When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
I watch the elevation Church to help me understand the gospel of Jesus Christ and keep my feet on the ground and the red bull channel on the adventure and surfing waves and I always wanted to do an documentary or something with after the raves and when I heard that series close it kind of bothered me lol.
If you could work with any producer who would it be?
Deadmau5 of course I would learn a lot from him.
What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?
When my single dubstep boom went on the charts on billboard in new Zealand and Belgium.
What is your dream venue to perform at?
Thunder dome even when I was a kid I had a vision to perform a place like that.
What’s the name of the last book you read and by whom?
Besides the bible, I’m working on the book of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes right now soon.
What’s your favourite sports team and why?
I’m not going to go there lol I love baseball but my favourite basketball player would have to be zeon.
Whose your favourite actor or actress and their best movie?
Ryan Reynolds every movie he has done was almost I respect him he seems legit.
Name someone famous who inspires you and why?
Ryan Reynolds because he doesn’t seem to be into the spotlight much as he is into his work ethics and acting skills and music famous would have to be deadmau5 he’s more into his work as well I respect that and mainstream artist I would go with Kanye west he seems the same way and they all beat into there own drum and Michael Jackson all these people I mentioned.
