Interview With Producer ‘Its64boy’ and CEO of ‘Stackin Up Entertainment’

Tell us a little about yourself?

I am Gregory Its64boy Brown, CEO of Stackin Up Entertainment. I have produced for Major artists such as Rick Ross, Megan Thee Stallion, T-Rell, Crunchy Black, 2 Chainz, Lucky Luciano, Paperboi M80 (Formerly known as RGF M80) Dela Wesst, Iakopo, Uneek Int, Goddess, King Hanz, Bigg Wall, and many more. I also attended Norfolk State University and received a bachelor in Mass Communications and Minored in Music Technology. I specialize in Engineering, Marketing, Composing, Publishing, and Distributing music.

How did you come up with your artist name? 

‘Its64boy’ came from taking 64 East to go to my college, Norfolk State University, and you take 64 West to get back to my hometown Richmond, so they call me 64 because I rock the East and West.

How long have you been in the music industry? 

I’ve been in the music industry for 26 years. It’s been in me since I was 4 years old.

How did you get started in the music business in the first place? 

My pops used to DJ and played Rick James, Smokey Robinson, Eminem, Ludacris, The Beatles, NWA, and many more. Being around a musically inclined family influenced me to want to pursue my passion.

How would you describe your latest single? 

My latest single, “Memory,” from my Traumatized Life Story project has a lot of pain, struggle, and love. This video was also picked up by BET JAMS and aired as well.

When can fans expect the visuals for the single?

I have a video out right now, “MEMORY,” by yours truly, its64boy, available on youtube to view now.

Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

Tupac, Jay-Z, Big L, NWA, T.I, myself, and many more.

How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?  

Sometimes I just write the hook (chorus) just to have a dope topic and punch in and out.

What is the concept behind your forthcoming project if working on one? 

The concept of my latest project, Traumatized Life Story speaks about what you experience in life and how to boss up and overcome your obstacles in life.

Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?

The current plan is to market projects digitally right now because it is working for us and we are in a digital era.

What did you buy with your first check off music?

I put funds back into marketing my material to keep the universal cash flow working for me.

What are must haves when your in the studio working?

I just need good energy.

What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?

A dream does not connect with your brain. You can only set goals on what you sense in life. You can’t plan to be a millionaire unless you are sitting down looking at one and hearing the things they have done to be successful.

What artist have you had the pleasure of working with and what was it like?

I’ve worked with Rick Ross, T-Rell, Project. pat, and Bigg Wall and those situations were so dope and the energy was great.

Jay Z, J.Cole, Yo Gotti, Moneybagg Yo, 21 Savage, and many more.

Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?

Both the sounds go so well together. People don’t even realize it but a voice is an instrument as well.

What area do you need to improve on in regards to your career? (Example: Better production, Delivery, Stage presence, etc…)

Just relaxing and giving myself more time for releases of songs. I can have a banger and want to get it out so bad to my fans.

What’s your all-time favourite song? 

NWA – Boyz N The Hood.

What was the last album you listened to?

Expensive Pain by Meek Mill

Your favourite artist of all time and why?

Jay-Z because he celebrated key artists in the industry by quoting artists in his lyrics paying homage and giving artists their flowers.

Drake, Jay-Z, Lil Baby, Kevin Gates, and Moneybagg Yo

In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?

Drake because he has a dope connection with the culture in multiple lanes.

Who have been some of your favourite artists that you’ve been able to work with? 

Rick Ross, Megan Thee Stallion, and Lucky Luciano.

How do you feel about the current state of music? 

We are in an independent digital era.

Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?

The Grammys.

What is your main goal as far as music?

I want to create classes and raise funding from sponsors to help the youth advance in their music careers.

Who would you say your music relates to the most?

My music relates to how I was brought up and the energy I was around.

What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you  different?)

I am still humble despite my success. Reach one teach one s/o to The Networking Queen.

When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?

I love to have fun with my wife and kids and just enjoy those beautiful moments.

If you could work with any producer who would it be?

Dr. Dre, Mike Will, and Metro Boomin.

What’s the biggest highlight of your career thus far?

Generated over 500k streams on Spotify on multiple records in 1 year.

What is your dream venue to perform at?

Georgia Dome Stadium or The White House.

What’s the name of the last book you read and by whom?

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.

What’s your favourite sports team and why?

Atlanta Falcons because I love the culture Atlanta stands for.

Whose your favourite actor or actress and their best movie?

 Denzel Washington and the best movie was John Q.

Name someone famous who inspires you and why?

Jay-Z because of his business edicate. 

What can we expect from you in the future?

More dope music and dope beats and success in everything that I touch.
