What’s good? My name is Reece and I’m from Springfield, Ma. I’m an FTM artist/songwriter.
How did you come up with your artist name?
REECEDONTREACT came from the realization I was out here giving too much energy to the wrong things for far too long.
How long have you been in the music industry?
I’d say like 3 or 4 years now
How did you get started in the music business in the first place?
In the very beginning I was around a lot of artists and in the studio as their photographer and I also used to freestyle on YouTube beats a lot so my homie suggested I record so I tried it. I took a long break in order to pursue transitioning but once that was done, it was up from there.
How would you describe your latest single?
My latest single is Pretend, out now on all platforms. I’d describe it as upbeat, club, drug music 
When can fans expect the visuals for the single?
Very soon. Thank you for being patient, there was a lot going on behind the scenes but the team got it together.
Who are your inspirations in the music industry?
I have many. But I’d start with PARTYNEXTDOOR and Sade
How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?
I write in my notes all day everyday. Sometimes a word and sometimes a paragraph. Depends on how I’m feeling. I try to mold the present emotion to whichever beat makes sense at the time.
What are must haves when your in the studio working?
I don’t like a lot of people in the studio for no reason. Less distractions ya know? Other than that I don’t need much.
What is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed?
To start by relocating.
Will you be collaborating with any other artists in the future?
Absolutely! I have no idea who but yes!
Name an artist(s) that you would love to work with?
There are so many artists I’d love to work with but I’d say Mariahthescientist, Bad Bunny, Tame Impala, Labrinth, Billie Eilish, PND, Vory, and of course Drake. Just to name a few
Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content?
Content + beat for sure. I’m talking about real shit. Things people haven’t addressed. Things people expect me to be scared to address. And the beats always slap. Shoutout Sentfrmheavn, my engineer.
What’s your all-time favourite song?
Wow. That’s crazy. I have a lot of favorite songs. He/Him by REECEDONTREACT
What was the last album you listened to?
Kendrick’s new album. Great work. I’m more of a melody type of person but he’s undeniable and good music is good music.
Your favourite artist of all time and why?
PARTYNEXTDOOR, never heard anything like him. Ahead of his time. Greatly unappreciated by the masses but the real ones know.
Whose your favourite five artists right now?
Mariahthescientist, Young Thug, Kodak, Rauw Alejandro, Drake
In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?
Drake, and it’s not even a debate. Cmon now.
How do you feel about the current state of music?
Music is super over saturated but people need to express themselves so I’m not mad at it. I’m trying to revolutionize music in a way it hasn’t been done, by incorporating my story as a trans man and opening peoples eyes. Inspiring people to be their true selves and inspiring others to accept even the things they don’t understand. I also have a duty to educate but even with all that, my identity still doesn’t overshadow my music.
Any dream award shows you hope to one day play at?
Winning a Grammy, yes.
What is your main goal as far as music?
To leave a legacy.
What separates you from other artists? (What’s makes you different?)
My story + work ethic. The fact that this isn’t just about me or music. It’s much bigger than that.
When your not in the studio, What do you like to do for fun and relaxation?
Photography is still and will always be a passion of mine. I also like to try things I’ve never done, especially food.
If you could work with any producer who would it be?
Probably Timbaland or Pharrell
Whose your favourite actor or actress and their best movie?
I really like Oscar Isaac in Ex Machina. That movie is incredible.
Name someone famous who inspires you and why?
Alton Mason. He’s different! Multi talented and fearless. I love it. He has an immense level of confidence it’s inspiring.
