Interview With DJ, Music Producer & Artist ‘DJ Fluff’

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a Chicago native that grew up on the streets since I was 15 years old. I’ve been a dj my whole life but when I came to South Florida in 2012 is when things started poping for me. I started spinning professionally in 2015 and its been a crazy ride since.

How did you come up with your artist name?

Well Its a crazy story! I dj primarily in strip clubs and at the time the movie Magic Mike was out and the strip club dj in the movie was Gabriel Iglesias aka FLUFFY. So one day I was blowing the roof off the club when a security guard pointed his flashlight at the dj booth and yelled out “FLUFFY”, that was it! When I really new it was gonna be by name is when I was having a conversation with a dancer at the end of the night discussing music. and she said “Fluff” can you get that Purple Reign by Future? That’s when it hit me I AM DJ FLUFF!

How long have you been in the music industry?

7 years professionally but have been a dj my whole life.

How did you get started in the music business in the first place?

At the time I was the founding executive director for MASS (Music & Art South of Sunrise) a new art district in Fort Lauderdale. Being In meetings with the Mayor one minute to hanging out with graffiti artist in a alley working on murals the next. I found myself at many art related events. At one event there was a couple of Turntables, I started mixing someone filmed it and posted it on FB and I got a phone call the next day to go to a club for an audition. That’s when it happened!

How would you describe your latest single?

My latest single is me debuting myself as an artist/music producer to the world, letting everyone know who I am, where I’m from and showcasing what my life is like in South Florida while paying homage to my hometown Chicago at the same time.

When can fans expect the visuals for the single?

August 31st the video drops! Check it out here.

Who are your inspirations in the music industry?

DJ Khaled

How do you go about writing a song and what is your process?

Well I’m blessed to have worked side by side with theTaykeover which is not only an artist but a musical genius. We came up with the concept for this song when I heard the beat (shout out Bruski Beats)! Once I knew the concept I locked myself in my bedroom and did not come out till the song was done. I spit the song over and over and over again as I was writing, so much that when I recorded the song I was able to do everything in one take. I’m blessed to have creatives around me!

What is the concept behind your forthcoming project if working on one?

The concept behind my album “NO HATE IN MY HEART’ is just that, I have none. I blessed to be a really good dj and also blessed to have the support of everyone around me, but sometimes I feel like people think I’m “crazy”. I feel like some people even family might think that I think that I’m more than I am when I’m not, I say maybe “If so maybe that’s all that I’ve got”! So regardless of what people think family, friends, co workers, fans ,the public they will all just have to “Pardon My Way” (song of the album) and I have no “NO HATE IN MY HEART” as I live out my dream.

Any plans on touring to promote your latest single?

Stay focused and stay humble! I also learned that the will is stronger than the skill, he who wants it most will achieve their goal!
